The cost to hire a percussion rifle for a weekend event is £80 this includes a box of 100 caps . I also require a cash deposit of £100.

The total comes to £180, but when you bring the rifle back to me at the end of the weekend you'll get your £100 returned!

If you do want to hire just let me know and pay £10 as a holding fee then you have £170 to pay on the day! Extra caps are £20 for 100.

These rifles are carbine length at 36” long so not too large. I have 4 available for each event.

In the past people have asked about hiring a rifle for events and I have never been able to do this. The rifle would need to be robust, reliable, easy to use and at the right price point, no guns have fulfilled all requirements, until now!

I come across replica Enfield 1853/1858 pattern percussion rifles and carbines at militaria fairs. They are full weight full strength replicas that will fire a percussion cap. They are very strong, easy to use and are reliable! Historically the US would be awash with them as both the Yanks and Confederates imported them by the thousand during the civil war. Not cutting-edge technology in 1880, but fairly common.

I modify them by venting them near the nipple not at the barrel end, this conforms with EyeLarp site rules and makes them a little louder. They still fire rifle percussion caps that are quite cheap to buy. While not as loud as a 9mm blank they are still loud enough.
